We have been working hard with Badminton England to revise our constitution so that it is clearer and uses BE 'best practice'. An EGM was held on 29th April which unanimously voted for the new constitution which has now been adopted. Download the new constitution from the downloads page or by clicking HERE.

One of the changes involved a name change for the association, which in future will be known as Hertfordshire Junior Badminton Association (HJBA). You will see the the new name appearing over the next few weeks as documents, social media and the web site are updated, but it will take some time, so please bear with us during the change. We will be using a new website address (www.hjba.org.uk) , so if you have any short cuts saved using the old site, please update them!

We would like to thank all those involved in the writing of the new constitution, and those who participated in the EGM, whether by attending or casting their proxy vote.

Need more information? Just drop us an email!

We have set up new social networking accounts which we will be using in future to keep our members up to date with our latest news, so please sign up!

Congratulations to the U12 team who beat Surrey 11-9 in the final match to take the National title. Great performance from all the players and coaching team!

Hertfordshire Junior Badminton League News

The Hertfordshire Junior Badminton League will be contested again this season between teams representing clubs and districts from right across the County, and arrangements for play on the first match day are now published here.

Closure of the Northern buildings at Gosling Sports Park

Gosling Sports Park has recently given notice that the Northern Sports Hall will be closing permanently 31st March 2019. This affects many Welwyn Hatfield Community Badminton Network Clubs and sessions: Knebworth Inclusive BC, The DKway Academy, a number of unaffiliated clubs, and several No Strings and junior sessions. The badminton hall is also used by Welwyn Garden schools for whom the site is essential for curriculum and after school activities: some 20 primary schools and at least 2 secondary schools use the facility on several occasions each year.

There are 4 public sports halls in Hatfield with a total of 23 badminton courts but only the one hall open to the public in the daytime in Welwyn Garden City and that is Gosling with 5 courts: it is a unique and indispensable resource to Welwyn Garden City.

We hope they will reconsider, or at least give us the opportunity to discuss it and perhaps find alternative solutions and a petition to stop the closure has been set up HERE.

Please let us know your thoughts. And meanwhile you can find more information on the WHSPAA and the SaveGosling FaceBook pages.
