Birmingham Bonanza Success for Herts Players!
[posted 19/08/10] (updated 23/09/10) Birmingham Bonanza U15 Boys Doubles Winners 2010

James Sweetnam and Hugo Weaver entered Under 15 level doubles competition at the Yehlex Birmingham Badminton Bonanza on 7th August. The event, organised by Badminton England was held at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena and was open to junior players up to grade 3, adult competitors and a veteran competition for over 50's. There were 28 courts being used throughout the day and over 450 matches played. Many competitors also enjoyed coaching and tuition from former Korean National Champion and England Coach, Lee Jae Bok, and tested their smash speed with a shuttle cock speedometer. About 90 miles per hour was the best speed.

James and Hugo competed against five other doubles partners and performed very well, winning all five matches, and took away a nice Badminton England trophy.

Anna Collis - Birmingham 2010

Anna Collis, who was graded too high to enter the Under 15 tournament, entered the adult ladies competition. Just 14, Anna Collis moved through her box winning against an Under 17 Gold player, to play two ladies in the semis and finals. Anna kept her cool and worked through two hard fought matches to take the Birmingham Bonaza 2010 Ladies League Champion title to her great delight!

Adult Women's Singles League
Winner - Anna Collis (Ht)
Runner Up - Gemma Baynton (Gl)
